Have you mapped out your holiday dinner table yet?

I can spend literally HOURS dressing the dinner table. My husband thinks I’m nuts.
The antique depression glass that Mom gave me comes out of the china cabinet. Beautiful green glass sparkles over the tablecloth my grandmother crocheted.
Unexpected li’l characters, like a kokeshi doll or even a smurf add humour to the scene. Small shot glasses act as vases for delicate li’l jasmine flowers.

I put a plate here, then I move it there. No, the flower vase doesn’t look good like that. Not sure about jasmine. Let me see how some orchids look. Hmmm, kokeshis are too Japanese. The menu is more middle-eastern. What do I have that’s more Armenian or Persian?
That Indian metal tray would be perfect!
Now, where the hell did I put it?

You can understand why Shawn thinks I’ve lost it.
Men tend to be practical. They know what they need, get it, and finish the job.
A woman’s more emotional. Setting the table is an artistic venture. There’s also a practical aspect to it.
For, example, you really need a couple of salt/pepper shakers so they’re within everyone’s reach.
Anyway, after hours of playing with the plates, cutlery, flowers, shakers, I feel rejuvinated and relaxed, ready for our dinner party.

I’m volunteering to help raise some funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

The average lifespan of someone suffering from one of the most common forms of MDA is 20 years.

That’s just wrong.
